NAFC 2009

Round 12

“Getting Better” was the main phrase to come out of yesterday’s win against South Adelaide FC. We are continuing to improve on our deficiencies, and inturn we are slowly playing better and better football. The South Adelaide game was a danger game, with SAFC only losing to CDFC by 20 points two weeks ago and last week they only lost to the Eagles by 10 points, so they were certainly on the improve, but after a close fought first term we got on top in the second and recorded a comfortable win. We still have a lot of things to work on, and Andrew and the Coaches will be working hard with the players to cut out those deficiencies in our game, but in the end we got the points and at this time of the season getting the “two points” is what really counts.

We were really happy with our run from defence yesterday, with Sporn, Ward and Damon White leading the way; they are delivering the ball so well, it really giving us a great platform to attack from. Our Ruckman also deserve some praise for their work around the ground yesterday, they know they have to work harder to make an impression around the ground, so it was pleasing to see them take nine marks between them. With our slight change of style our midfielders have to work harder, and I know Andrew was really happy with their work rate up and down the ground.

This week we face Port once gain at Alberton, we were probably lucky to pinch the win earlier in the season down there, so we are under no illusions that it will be a very tough encounter on their home deck. With the Power losing, you would think that we may lose White and Lonie, so we will really have to play well to record another much needed win! Our supporters love going down to Alberton, so we look forward to seeing all of you down there on Saturday.

Goal Kickers: Alleway 5, O’Brien, Wright 2, Stewart, Archard, B.White, Lonie, Delvins , W.Thompson 1.

Main Possession Getters: Lonie (34 Possessions), Allan and Ward (31 Poss) Archard (27 Poss), Sporn and Wright (26 Poss).

Andrew’s Best Players – Ward (After an injury interrupted start to the season, really showed his class), Alleway (Dominated CHF, his work rate is unbelievable), McIntyre (Kept one of the best forward in the League in Warren quiet all day), Archard (Really important to our Midfield structure)..

The Ressies recorded another solid win, with all players playing really good football. Wintle and Clarke both looked good in their second run in the Reserves and will certainly start putting pressure on the Match Committee. It was also pleasing to see Kriston Thompson continue on from his Under 20 State form, to control the backline. Greg Gallman is also showing he is nearly ready to return to the league after a horrible injury interrupted start of the season.

Goal Kickers: Grose 3, Wintle, R.Ebert, Wundke 2, Stribling, M.Motlop, T.Armstrong, Brown, Down, Thiele, Pfeiffer, Walton 1.

Main Possession Getters: Clarke (31 Possessions), McGahey and Pfeiffer (27 Poss), Wintle (26 Poss), K.Thompson (25 Poss)

Scott’s Best Players – K.Thompson (Speed and class, not much more you need to say) Brown (presented all day at CHF) Down (His ruckwork was excellent) Wintle (The Captain might be ready I’d say)
