Round 6
 |
The League “Getting better” that is how you would describe the league win against South Adelaide. Slowly we are starting to play the kind of football that we expect. Sure there were some mistakes, but overall the structure was good, the midfielders worked hard and the 99 point win was a fair representation of our dominance. For the first time this season we had a good start, which certainly as everyone knows can set a tempo for the game. Whilst we struggled in the centre square our defenders rebounded very well to set up our forwards which inturn created “scoreboard pressure”.
Grose and Pfeiffer for their first league games for the season, showed some real promise, while Cunningham continues to impress down back. Brett O’Hara is also slowly getting back match fitness from his injury, and is starting to really impose himself in our stoppages.
Goal Kickers: D.White 5, Alleway, Younie 3, Stewart, Archard, Motlop 2, O’Brien, Walker, Allan, Lonie, Pfeiffer 1.
Main Possession Getters: Ivens (31 Possessions), Lonie (29 Poss), Archard, B.White, Sporn, Allan, D.White, Ryswyk (All 27 Poss).
Andrew’s Best Players – McIntyre (It is really the Macca of old at the moment, his work on Warren had him dragged), Younie (A real leaders game, his work inside was great, but he also finished off well), Damon White (Finally showed what we knew he could do, injuries have affected him this year, but yesterday was a complete game by a class player), Sporn (He is one of the best defenders and readers of the ball in the SANFL)
Everyone really played their part which was the best part of our win.
The Reserves really snatched a “win” from the jaws of defeat, they were down by over two goals half way through the last term, but to our boys credit they dug depp to record their fourth win of the season. The highlight of the day was the work of our own set of “Krakouer brothers” in Wade and Kriston Thompson. Their work through the midfield and up forward was very exciting; you would pay the admission price just to watch them work off each other.
Goal Kickers: W.Thompson 5, R.Ebert 3, Stribling, Krieg, Martin, Davis, Christie 1.
Main Possession Getters: R.Ebert (33 Possessions), Krieg (31 Poss), McGahey (28 Poss), Martin (25 Poss), Delvins (24 poss).
Scott’s Best Players – Down (Really had some pressure on him with his performances this year, but responded well to play very well), Ricky Ebert (Continues to play well, just has to bide his time and keep performing well), Delvins (Really working on his deficiencies so he can return to he league, played a great game in defence), Wade Thompson (An excitement machine)
This week we face the test of Glenelg at Glenelg, make sure you all get along in what should be great games in both grades.
